Suspect Arrested In Carjacking, Kidnapping Case

Originally reported by Boca Post

OAKLAND PARK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have shared a video showing a man who stole a car with a mother and her baby inside.

They are seeking help from the public to identify him and locate his whereabouts.

On June 26, at 8;28 a.m., a call was made to Broward County Regional Communications reporting a stolen vehicle at 850 W. Commercial Blvd. In Oakland Park. The victims, a mother and her three year old daughter, had been in a car accident with another vehicle. During the exchange of information with the other driver, an unidentified man got into the driver’s seat of her car and drove off with her child.

The mother tried to stop the thief by holding onto the passenger door and calling out that her child was still inside. Unfortunately, she was dragged along before falling down as the thief sped away.

Surveillance footage captured various moments involving the suspect that investigators are now reviewing for more information.

The individual was observed getting out of the car with a child in a car seat and leaving her on the sidewalk. In another instance, the person deserted the vehicle. The last video shows the individual using the victim’s credit card at a Family Dollar store. If anyone recognizes this person or has information about this incident, please contact BSO Special Victims Unit Detective Azucena Rodriguez at 954 321 4227 or submit a tip via the SaferWatch app. To maintain anonymity, reach out to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954 493 TIPS (8477), visit browardcrimestoppers.org online or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone within the United States.
