BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A man is dead after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Walmart at 7900 W. McNab Road in North Lauderdale.
Broward County Regional Communications received a call at about 12:28 p.m. June 30 reporting a shooting at the store. Broward Sheriff’s Office district deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded, according to BSO.
On scene, deputies found Bart Diguglielmo suffering from a gunshot wound, BSO said. Paramedics transported him to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
BSO’s preliminary investigation found Diguglielmo and an adult female were involved in a verbal altercation over a parking space in the Walmart parking lot before the shooting.
Investigators said the shooter, identified only as the adult female, remained on scene and cooperated with detectives. She told investigators the shooting was in self-defense, BSO said.
BSO homicide detectives are handling the case. BSO said once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the Broward County State Attorney's Office, which will determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
The investigation remains ongoing. Residents who were in the area around the time of the shooting, or who may have information about what happened in the parking lot, should watch for updates from BSO as detectives continue their work and the case moves toward review by prosecutors.
