93-Year-Old Killed In Boca Raton Crash

Malcom Arnold Cohen, 93, Passed Away

DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — 93-year-old Malcom Arnold Cohen died after a deadly car accident in unincorporated Delray Beach.

The deadly crash happened on Saturday, February 17th, 2024. According to PBSO traffic homicide investigators, Marcie Derosas, 58, was driving a Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Atlantic Avenue approaching the intersection with Legends Way in the left turn lane.

At the same time, Viola Portillo, 54, was westbound on Atlantic Avenue approaching the intersection with Legends Way.

Deputies say that both drivers had green traffic signals.

Derosas made a left (northbound) turn onto Legends Way in front of Portillo. The front bumper of Portillo’s VW Beetle struck the rear passenger side door of Derosas’s Sonata.

Malcom Cohen, a 93-year-old passenger in Derosas’ Sonata, was transported from the scene to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. There were no other major injuries, according to PBSO.

Cohen died on February 26, 2024 at 2:05am from injuries sustained in this collision.
