BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — 33-year-old Steven Babici of North Palm Beach died in a fiery crash in unincorporated Boynton Beach.

The crash happened just before 7 PM on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 along Osprey Pond Lane in unincorporated Boynton Beach.

Steven Babici, a 33 year old resident of North Palm Beach, was driving his 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound on Osprey Pond Lane in unincorporated Boynton Beach. According to investigators, Babici lost control of his vehicle and veered to the left (southwest) before colliding with a raised dirt berm.

Witnesses at the scene reported that Babici appeared unconscious while the truck was still running. Despite their attempts, they were unable to open the locked doors and access the vehicle.

The intense heat from the truck’s undercarriage ignited the nearby underbrush, resulting in a fire that rapidly engulfed the entire vehicle. The fire originated in the engine compartment and spread into the passenger compartment. Fire Rescue arrived promptly, extinguished the flames and sadly pronounced Babici deceased.

Based on preliminary investigations, it is suspected that Babici may have experienced a medical episode or drug overdose leading up to this tragic incident.
