UPDATE

We have learned that a 2nd person has died as a result of this accident. One of the two people transported to the local hospital has died at the hospital. One person is still in the hospital.

According to PBSO, a Nissan Rogue, driven by 36-year-old Daniel Polo, of Buttonwood Lake Drive in Boca Raton, was eastbound on Glades Road approaching the turnpike entrance. At the same time, a Ram truck, driven by 29-year-old Alexander Spandau, of Boynton Beach, was westbound on Glades Road approaching the turnpike entrance. For unknown reasons, Alexander failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and entered the southbound turn lane then mounted the median and crossed into eastbound traffic. The RAM truck then collided with the Rogue’s front bumper. The RAM spun counter-clockwise 90 degrees upon impact and the Rogue was pushed violently backward.

Boca Post has been told that both the driver and occupant of the Nissan Rogue have died.
