Update – 2:08pm

Delray Beach Police Department has confirmed with Boca Post that at 6:30 am they responded to a call of a train striking a vehicle. Officers found the car vehicle as imaged above to be unoccupied. Officers believe that the driver entered the tracks via an uncontrolled dead-end street, that is, no railway crossing. The woman then frantically ran from door to door with her toddler telling residents that someone was chasing her. It was during that time that the train struck the unoccupied vehicle.

Police made contact with the mother who will now undergo a mental evaluation. The mother and child are uninjured. Delray PD notified The Department of Children and Families to determine the best placement of the child at this time.

Update – 6:55am

6:55 am – Scene reported all clear with exception of PD who remains on scene. Expect traffic delays in the area.

Update – 6:42AM

6:42 am – Police say they had a driver and toddler with them.

DELRAY BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded this morning to a ‘Train Incident’ at SE 10th Street and S Swinton Avenue.

Fire Rescue dispatched more than 8 units to what they called a ‘Train Incident’ reportedly located at SE 10th Street and S Swinton Avenue. The vehicle was reported on the tracks approximately 200 yards north of SW 10th. All rail traffic was stopped at 6:38 am.
