BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — The Florida Atlantic University police department warns students about increasing disruptive filming incidents on campus as content creators continue to appear unexpectedly and disrupt student activities.
FAU Police warn about rising numbers of unannounced content creators who disrupt students and staff members and create problems for daily operations and residential dorms. Police say that students who face disruptions should contact the department at 561-297-3500 to notify them about their situation.
The department published a campus advisory which explains the rules regarding what activities are permitted and which ones are prohibited. The message begins by stating that all visitors, including content creators, need to follow university rules and state laws during their time on campus. The police department has established that all filming activities which prevent students from entering their classrooms or walking through hallways or disrupt university operations are strictly forbidden.
The advisory references Florida State Statute 810.09 which gives police authority to remove people who enter or stay on property after receiving warnings or when they disrupt normal campus activities. The warning states that when someone refuses to follow a lawful order to depart the area it will lead to a criminal offense.
The FAU Police Department shows that most content creator incidents take place in areas surrounding student hotspots and residential zones where students view staged prank videos. The department appears to take a proactive approach to handle potential problems which will increase during the upcoming semester according to the advisory.
The department needs immediate notification to campus police whenever someone witnesses disruptive filming activities. The department posted on Facebook that students should report all observed incidents to the authorities. The police department states that immediate reporting helps them prevent situations from escalating into more dangerous situations.
