George Fortier, 98, Passed Away

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — A 98-year-old Boynton Beach man was struck by a car and killed Monday evening.

George Rullman, aged 86, was driving his Mercedes SUV in the eastbound direction on Summer Tree Drive, specifically within the 7288 block. Meanwhile, George Fortier, aged 98, was walking towards the west on the southern side of the road (on the inside of a right hand curve) within that same block of Summer Tree Drive.

As Rullman’s SUV navigated through the curve, it collided with Fortier who happened to be walking along the edge of the roadway.

During this unfortunate collision, the front right corner of Rullman’s SUV struck Fortier directly and as a result, he was propelled into the air before landing a short distance away from where he was hit on the surface of the road.

Rullman stayed at the scene and luckily did not sustain any injuries from this incident.

Fortier was immediately taken to Delray Medical Center. Unfortunately, at around 6;55 p.m., he could not survive his injuries and ultimately passed away.
