21-Year-Old Wellington Man Killed In Pompano Beach Motorcycle Accident

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A 21-year-old Wellington man was killed earlier this month when he crashed a motorcycle on Copans Road in Pompano Beach.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Derrick G. Stone of Shoma Drive in Wellington.

Broward Sheriff’s Office provides Boca Post with the following update:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal crash that killed a man earlier this month in Pompano Beach. 
Shortly after 5:15 p.m., on Sunday, June 12, BSO detectives responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on the 600 block of East Copans Road in Pompano Beach. The on-scene investigation revealed Derrick Stone was driving a 2003 Kawasaki ZX6 motorcycle heading eastbound on East Copans Road just east of Dixie Highway. As the motorcycle entered the curve in the roadway, it drifted towards the outside lane. The motorcycle proceeded through the bicycle lane and sideswiped the metal guardrail along the south side of the road. 
Stone was pronounced deceased on the scene. The investigation continues.
