Stranger Danger! Suspicious Incident At A South Florida Elementary School

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) — A Florida boy had a close encounter with a stranger on the way to school this morning and told Police.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, this morning, at approximately 7:40 am, Fort Lauderdale Police received a call from the Guardian at North Side Elementary School, located at 120 Northeast 11th Street. A 7-year-old student reported that a man had asked if the child needed a ride while walking to school. The child said no and ran away, towards the school. The child is safe.

According to the child, the vehicle is described as a grey SUV and the driver is described as an adult black male, a thin build. This incident occurred within approximately one block of the school. The information provided by the child was immediately disseminated and units continued to circulate the area attempting to locate additional information or evidence.

Police tell us that the incident is considered a suspicious incident and NOT an attempted kidnapping due to the circumstances. The child was never forced into the vehicle and the driver did not physically contact the child at any time.

FLPD asks that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them immediately. Police also remind residents that if they see something, say something. Suspicious activity should be reported immediately.
