BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Boca Raton woman is suing a medical plaza owner and its property manager, alleging she was badly hurt in a trip-and-fall outside a building on Camino Real.

The lawsuit is Ruja Cohen v. Boca Medical Plaza, LLC, and SIS Property Management, LLC, filed in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida. The case number listed is 502025CA012909XXXAMB, and the complaint was filed December 10, 2025.

In the filing, Cohen says she was on the property as a business invitee and that the incident happened on or about December 12, 2023 at 7700 Camino Real in Boca Raton. That’s a commercial medical building, according to the complaint.

Cohen claims she was leaving the building and heading back to her car when she “unexpectedly” encountered a hole in the outdoor tile. The complaint describes it as unmarked. No warning, no delineation, nothing, she alleges.

The hole, as described in the lawsuit, created an elevation change that was abrupt and uneven. The complaint also alleges it was concealed, non–code compliant, and “wholly unprotected.” Cohen says she tripped and fell with substantial force.

The defendants named are Boca Medical Plaza, LLC, which the complaint identifies as the landowner and operator of the premises, and SIS Property Management, LLC, which the complaint identifies as the property manager. The lawsuit alleges SIS was in possession, custody, and/or control of the premises as manager, and it also alleges a partnership and/or joint venture relationship in how the property was managed and supervised.

Cohen’s complaint says both defendants owed her a non-delegable duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition. It also alleges the defendants had actual and/or constructive knowledge of the condition that she says caused the fall, and that they knew or should have known the premises violated applicable statutes, ordinances, codes, standards, rules, acts, and/or regulations.

There are two counts.

Count I is a premises liability claim against Boca Medical Plaza, LLC. Cohen alleges the company breached duties by, among other things, failing to maintain the walkways, creating a trip hazard, failing to inspect the walkways, failing to warn, and failing to correct the allegedly dangerous condition.

Count II is a negligence claim against SIS Property Management, LLC. The complaint alleges SIS had authority and exercised control over day-to-day operations tied to inspection, maintenance, correction, and warnings about dangerous conditions at the property, and that it committed similar acts and omissions—failure to maintain, failure to inspect, failure to warn, failure to correct.

As for damages, Cohen alleges she suffered serious bodily injuries and the usual list that shows up in these filings: pain and suffering, disability, scarring, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, and medical-related expenses. The complaint also alleges aggravation of a previously existing condition. It states the injuries are permanent or continuing and that she will suffer losses and impairment in the future.

She is seeking damages that exceed $50,000, with the exact value to be determined by a jury. The complaint includes a demand for a jury trial and seeks costs and other relief the court deems proper.

Cohen is represented by Morgan & Morgan. The attorney listed on the complaint is Arye P. Corbett of the firm’s Plantation office.
