BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A civil complaint filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court alleges a Boca Raton restaurant entrance area was unsafe and caused a customer to fall and suffer injuries earlier this year.

In Linda Buccilli v. Lazy Dog Restaurants, LLC, d/b/a Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, and SCG Uptown Boca Owner, LLC, Case No. 502026CA002898XXXAMB, filed March 12, 2026, Buccilli alleges the two defendants were responsible for maintaining and controlling the area where the incident happened. The case was filed in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida.

The complaint says Buccilli is a Palm Beach County resident and that both defendants are foreign companies authorized to do business in Florida and operating in Palm Beach County. The plaintiff is represented by The Bald Injury Lawyers, with attorneys Jeremy T. Schilling and Jonathan Kasen listed on the complaint. No defense law firm is identified in the filing.

According to the complaint, the incident happened on or about Jan. 27, 2026, at 9636 Glades Road in Boca Raton, where Buccilli says she was lawfully on the premises as a business invitee at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar. The lawsuit claims that while she was walking from the parking lot into the restaurant, she tripped and fell near the west side of the restaurant’s outside patio.

Buccilli alleges the fall happened because of a solid-colored curb that was not marked in a way that would alert customers to the condition. The complaint says there were no warning signs, markings or colors to warn customers or other invitees, and claims the curb rise blended into the parking lot, sidewalk and patio area, making it difficult to detect before the fall.

The complaint further alleges Buccilli landed on her left side, broke her elbow and hit her head. It says the area where the incident occurred was open to the public and under the control and maintenance of both Lazy Dog and SCG. The suit also claims the condition existed long enough that the defendants, using reasonable care, should have known about it, and that they failed to correct it or warn about it in a timely and reasonable manner.

In Count I, filed against Lazy Dog Restaurants, LLC, the plaintiff claims the company had a duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and to warn of dangerous conditions that were known, or should have been known, to it. The complaint alleges Lazy Dog breached that duty by failing to place markings, colors, warning signs or barriers near the area, failing to keep the premises reasonably safe, failing to properly inspect the property, and failing to train and supervise employees to identify and address similar hazards. The filing also alleges, in the alternative, that Lazy Dog created the condition.

In Count II, Buccilli makes the same negligence claim against SCG Uptown Boca Owner, LLC, alleging it also had a duty to maintain the premises safely and warn of hazards, and that it failed to do so. The complaint seeks damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest, attorney fees and costs, and says the plaintiff suffered injuries including pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, inconvenience, medical expenses, lost wages and rehabilitation expenses. The filing also demands a jury trial. All of those allegations are claims made by the plaintiff and have not been proven in court.

The original complaint, Linda Buccilli v. Lazy Dog Restaurants, LLC, d/b/a Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, and SCG Uptown Boca Owner, LLC, Case No. 502026CA002898XXXAMB, as filed March 12, 2026, with the Palm Beach County Clerk of Court, can be viewed here.
