LAKE WORTH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted in connection with reported lewd and lascivious acts aboard a Tri-Rail train that passed through Palm Beach County earlier this month.
The incident occurred April 2, 2026, at approximately 9:25 p.m., while the train was traveling northbound from Miami Airport toward the Lake Worth station. That route runs through multiple jurisdictions, including Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and other Palm Beach County communities served by the regional commuter rail system.
Investigators say the alleged conduct took place on board the train during the evening trip. No further details about the nature of the acts or whether a victim has been identified were included in the agency’s advisory. The case remains under active investigation.
PBSO released surveillance images showing the man they are trying to identify. The images appear to capture him at or near a station platform and inside a train doorway. He is seen wearing a dark sweatshirt layered under a jacket with a bright yellow lining, along with jeans. In one image, the back of the sweatshirt is visible with lettering across the shoulders.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigative agency handling the case, which falls under its jurisdiction for incidents occurring within county boundaries, including portions of the Tri-Rail corridor that pass through unincorporated areas and municipalities where PBSO provides law enforcement services.
Tri-Rail, operated by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, runs a 72-mile commuter line connecting Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The system carries thousands of riders daily, including commuters and travelers connecting to Miami International Airport. Law enforcement agencies coordinate across counties for incidents that occur during trips spanning multiple jurisdictions.
Detectives are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recognizes the man in the released images to come forward. Authorities say identifying the individual is a critical next step in advancing the investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Mike Gruber of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office directly at [email protected]. Tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous.
PBSO also directs the public to its mobile app, available for Apple and Android devices, where tips can be submitted using the “See Something” feature. The app allows users to provide information, images, or video directly to investigators without revealing their identity.
For residents in Boca Raton and surrounding communities, the advisory serves as a reminder that incidents occurring on regional transit systems often involve multiple agencies and require coordination across county lines. PBSO maintains responsibility for investigating crimes within its jurisdiction, even when they occur on moving transit systems like Tri-Rail.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the case. No timeline has been provided for when additional information may be released.
The investigation remains open. Detectives say public assistance could help identify the suspect and determine what occurred during the train trip.
Residents who regularly use Tri-Rail or were traveling that route on April 2 are encouraged to review the released images and contact investigators if they recognize the individual or recall any unusual activity during the evening service.
