BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Mostly sunny skies and an 81-degree high are expected today in Boca Raton, but the beach forecast carries a high rip current risk through this evening.

Today’s Weather - Sunday, January 25, 2026

Boca Raton starts the day on the warm side for late January, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 81 expected this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service forecast for the Boca Raton Airport area.

It will not be a still, quiet beach day, though. A steady south wind is expected to run 11 to 15 mph, with gusts reaching as high as 23 mph. You will feel that breeze along the Boca beaches and near the Intracoastal, and it may be more noticeable on exposed roads like A1A and along east-west corridors where the wind can funnel between buildings.

The bigger headline for anyone headed to the water is the rip current risk. The National Weather Service has a high rip current risk posted for Coastal Palm Beach County through this evening. That includes Boca Raton’s coastline. The hazard message warns that dangerous rip currents are expected and notes that rip currents can pull even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

If you are planning a beach stop today, the guidance is simple: swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float, and do not fight the current. If you can, move parallel to shore. If you cannot escape, face the beach and signal for help.

Away from the immediate beach, the day should stay mostly dry with a straightforward weather setup: sun, warm temperatures, and a persistent southerly breeze. Along the I-95 corridor and on major routes like Glades Road and Lyons Road, expect typical travel conditions, though the gustier stretches can make it feel windier than the thermometer suggests.

Tonight turns partly cloudy with a low around 71. Winds remain out of the south around 9 to 11 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph. That keeps the overnight air mild, especially near the coast.

The broader South Florida discussion from the National Weather Service also flags patchy dense fog as a possibility across western portions of South Florida this morning, and again tonight into early Monday. That is more of a concern for interior and western areas than the immediate Boca coastline, but anyone driving early toward the western suburbs should stay alert for sudden visibility drops.

Marine conditions are also trending rougher. For the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nautical miles, the forecast calls for “small craft should exercise caution” today. Winds start from the southeast at 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots, becoming south 15 to 20 knots this afternoon. Seas are forecast at 2 to 3 feet early, building to 3 to 5 feet and occasionally up to 6 feet this afternoon. Intracoastal waters are expected to run at a moderate chop.
