Today’s Weather - Sunday, February 15, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton is waking up to a classic February setup that looks nice out the window but carries a couple of real beach and boating red flags. For most of the city, today’s headline is simple: mostly sunny skies and a comfortable high near 78. The bigger story is the wind. South winds will run 16 to 18 mph today with gusts as high as 26 mph, and those gusts will be noticeable from the Boca beaches to the I-95 corridor and across the western suburbs.

If you are out along A1A or anywhere near the shoreline, the breeze will feel sharper and more persistent. It is the kind of wind that makes umbrellas hard to manage, knocks around lightweight patio furniture, and kicks up choppy conditions on the Intracoastal. Inland, you will still feel it. Expect a steady push of air along Glades Road and Lyons Road, especially in open stretches where there is less tree cover.

Rain is not the main event during the day. The local point forecast calls for a mostly sunny afternoon, but the broader forecast discussion notes a weakening line of showers moving through with a weak frontal boundary later. Bottom line for Boca: you may see a few showers develop later today, but widespread meaningful rain is not expected with this system.

Tonight is where the forecast turns a little more unsettled. The NWS forecast calls for a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening, then a better chance of showers after 2 a.m. Skies stay partly cloudy with a low around 66. Winds remain breezy overnight, still out of the south at 14 to 16 mph with gusts up to 23 mph. Rain chances rise to 50 percent, though precipitation totals are expected to stay light in most spots, with less than a tenth of an inch forecast in general. Any thunderstorm that does develop could squeeze out higher localized amounts.

The other major piece of today’s weather package is the beach hazard. A high risk of rip currents is forecast for Atlantic beaches today, driven by strong winds and longshore currents. Even strong swimmers can get pulled out quickly in these conditions. If you are heading to the beach, this is a day to take the warning seriously, keep kids close, and only swim in front of a lifeguard.

For boaters, conditions are hazardous. The marine forecast calls for southeast winds 20 to 25 knots today with seas 4 to 5 feet, occasionally up to 6 feet. Conditions remain rough tonight with southwest winds 20 to 25 knots and seas 4 to 6 feet, occasionally up to 8 feet. The Intracoastal is expected to run a moderate chop.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

High Rip Current Risk through late tonight for Coastal Palm Beach County (including Boca Raton), as well as Coastal Broward County and Coastal Miami-Dade County. Dangerous rip currents are expected, and the NWS warning notes they can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water. The NWS guidance is to swim near a lifeguard and, if caught in a rip current, relax and float, do not fight the current, and work parallel to shore if you can.

Small Craft Advisory until 11 a.m. Monday for Atlantic coastal waters including the waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 nautical miles and the adjacent offshore waters. The advisory cites south winds 15 to 25 knots and seas in the 2 to 5 foot range, with hazardous conditions for small craft.
