BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Boca Raton Regional Hospital is getting a new nine-story patient tower that will house private patient rooms, add 1.08 million square feet, and double the current education space.

The groundbreaking of the new Gloria Drummond Patient Tower at Boca Raton Regional Hospital was on March 23rd, 2022.

Baptist Health South has hired Robins & Morton to oversee the construction of the new 1.08 million square foot building. The 9 story building will add many private patient suites as well as house the Michelle and Michael Hagerty Center for Graduate Medical Education which will more than double its current educational capacities.

“We are honored that Baptist Health South Florida has entrusted us to be part of bringing their Keeping the Promise vision to reality,” said Robins & Morton Senior Vice President Bruce Adams. “The Gloria Drummond Patient Tower is a major piece of Boca Raton Region Hospital’s transformation that will further enhance care for the growing South Florida community.”

The project is also pursuing both LEED and WELL certifications. If obtained, Boca Raton Regional Hospital will be one of the first hospitals in Florida to receive the WELL certification which is a performance-based global standard for certifying health and well-being in the built environment.

As part of the project, Robins & Morton is building a new, two-story, 39,700 square foot central energy plant to support campus-wide expansions and renovations.

“It’s exciting to work with Baptist Health South Florida and our design partners, HKS Architects and TLC Engineering, to help Boca Raton Regional Hospital achieve high levels of environmental sustainability and a healthy building environment,” said Robins & Morton Project Director Ron Bowes. “This is an extraordinary healthcare project and we are looking forward to delivering an exceptional facility that will benefit the Boca Raton community for generations to come.”
