FLORIDA (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Holmes County woman just turned a $5 ticket into a $1 million payday.

The Florida Lottery announced that Jessica Lewis, 45, of Caryville, claimed a $1 million prize from the Triple Red 777’s Scratch-Off game after purchasing her ticket at the Circle K on 416 S. Waukesha Street in Bonifay. Lewis opted to receive her winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of $584,000, according to the Florida Lottery.

The Triple Red 777’s game costs $5 and offers more than $55 million in total cash prizes, including over four million winning tickets. With overall odds of 1-in-3.92, the game remains one of the most popular in the state’s Scratch-Off lineup.

Scratch-Off games continue to play a huge role in Florida Lottery sales, accounting for about 74 percent of all tickets sold during the 2023–2024 fiscal year. Since the program began, Scratch-Offs have awarded over $66.9 billion in prizes, created 2,350 millionaires, and generated more than $20.09 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) — which helps support Florida’s schools and scholarship programs.

The Florida Lottery, established in 1988, has contributed over $49 billion to education statewide. That funding has helped send more than one million students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. To date, Lottery games have paid out more than $103 billion in prizes and created over 4,400 millionaires, with 99 percent of all revenue reinvested back into the state’s economy through prize payouts, retailer commissions, and education transfers.
