UPDATE: The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has canceled this Silver Alert. You can view the FDLE cancellation notice here.
FLORIDA (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Florida Silver Alert has been issued for a missing woman last known to be in Punta Gorda, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
FDLE said the alert is for Barbara Stanley, 83, from Punta Gorda in Charlotte County. She is described as a white female with gray hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 175 pounds.
Silver Alerts are used in Florida to help locate missing older adults, and they rely on the public spotting someone and quickly getting information to law enforcement. For South Florida residents, these alerts matter because travel between counties is routine and fast, and missing-person cases can move beyond the last known area without warning.
The last known area listed by FDLE is Punta Gorda, in Charlotte County. Responsibility for the investigation and follow-up sits with the local agency handling the case, and FDLE is distributing the statewide alert information.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office at 941-639-2101 or call 911.
Residents should watch for the person matching the description and report tips directly to law enforcement. Do not delay to confirm details on your own. The official FDLE flyer is posted at http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/MCICSearch/Flyer.asp?ID=506772.
