BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — Celebrate and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. With us on MLK Jr. Day, on Monday, January 15, 2024.

This free and open event includes a delightful community breakfast, followed by a ceremonial gathering featuring inspiring speakers and impactful speeches. There will also have an exciting unity celebration filled with amusement rides, crafts, games and various engaging activities. To further commemorate this special occasion, there will be a Mayoral Proclamation. Everyone is invited to join a unity march from the MLK Jr. Monument to the Mizner Park Amphitheater.

Start your day with a community breakfast from 8;00 to 10;00 AM at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church (220 Ruby Street). The breakfast is sponsored by D.I.S.C. Developing Interracial Social Change. The theme for this year’s event is “Be Active, Be Involved, Be Community,” as we celebrate Pearl City from 1915 to 2024 – a place recently designated as part of the National Register of Historic Places.

At 10;00 AM, join us for the Unity March starting from MLK Jr Monument (200 Ruby Street) and ending at Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real). Along the way, you’ll be accompanied by the Boca Raton Community High School Band & Color Guard and the FAU Jazz Ensemble. Trolley service will be available for those who require assistance.

The ceremony will begin at 10;30 AM at Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real). It will feature a keynote speech by Chuck Ridley, mayoral proclamation, speeches from community leaders, poetry readings, music performances and presentation of the Humanitarian Award.

Following the ceremony is a free Unity Celebration from 11;30 AM to 3;00 PM at Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real). Enjoy amusement rides and games, engage in crafts activities at our craft station or visit community partner booths. Don’t miss out on participating in our Photo Mosaic Project!
