Boca Raton Driver Arrested in Sandalfoot Boulevard E-Scooter Fatal Crash

UPDATE : 82 MPH, “A Few Shots,” THC: Inside the Deadly West Boca Crash

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Deerfield Beach man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that killed an electric scooter rider on Sandalfoot Boulevard in Boca Raton, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Adams was arrested by PBSO on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, and charged with Vehicular Homicide under Florida Statute 782.071(1)(a). The investigation is being handled by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.

The collision occurred at 10520 Sandalfoot Boulevard at about 11:08 p.m. on July 16, 2025. Investigators say a 2024 Chevrolet Trax was traveling westbound on Sandalfoot Boulevard, approaching the intersection of North Branch Road. At the same time, an electric scooter operated by 28-year-old Alexander Daniel Acevedo was traveling eastbound in the 10520 block.

As the Chevrolet approached the block, investigators say it drifted in a southwesterly direction, crossing over the center continuous left-turn lane and partially into the eastbound lane, directly into the path of the scooter. The front passenger side corner and quarter panel of the SUV struck the front of the scooter.

Investigators say both the scooter and Acevedo were violently vaulted into the air. Acevedo was ejected and thrown in a northwesterly direction. He came to rest on the northern shoulder of Sandalfoot Boulevard, northwest of the point of impact. The scooter was broken into several pieces and came to rest northwest of the crash site.

The Chevrolet was brought to a controlled stop, coming to rest half in the center continuous left-turn lane and half in the eastbound through lane, facing west.

Acevedo sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue at 11:25 p.m., according to investigators.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as John Arthur Adams, 35, of Deerfield Beach, was not reported injured. A passenger in the vehicle was also not reported injured.
