A Boca Raton man was killed and a passenger critically injured after a Porsche left State Road 7, crossed multiple lanes, and crashed into a drainage canal in Delray Beach, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Boca Raton man was killed Saturday after a Porsche sped south on State Road 7 in Delray Beach, crossed the roadway, and ended up submerged in a drainage canal, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened at 12:19 PM on Jan. 10, 2026, on State Road 7 north of Winners Circle in Delray Beach, in the area of Saturnia Isles Boulevard.

PBSO identified the driver as Jeffrey Kay, 58, of Boca Raton. Kay was driving a 2021 Porsche 911, according to a report. A passenger, Timothy Wilson, 57, of Phoenix, Arizona, was also in the car and was listed in critical condition.

PBSO says the Porsche was traveling southbound on State Road 7 “from Saturnia Isles Blvd” when it “accelerated to a high rate of speed.” The report states that, for unknown reasons, the driver failed to maintain control, left the southbound lanes, and entered the median.

From there, investigators wrote, the car struck a small palm tree, crossed the northbound lanes, went through a guard rail, and continued southeast into a drainage canal. PBSO wrote that both the driver and passenger submerged with the vehicle in the canal.

The report credits “good samaritans” with removing both occupants from the vehicle. Both were transported to Delray Medical Center, according to PBSO. The driver was pronounced deceased, and the passenger was listed as being in critical condition.
