DEERFIELD BEACH, FL — A woman was killed and three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Deerfield Beach, and BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating.
BSO said the crash happened at about 1:39 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, on Northeast Third Avenue at Northeast 44th Street.
Detectives said a 2023 Land Rover Discovery was traveling northbound on Northeast Third Avenue when it rear-ended a 2023 Nissan Rogue that was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection.
After the impact, detectives said the Land Rover ricocheted off the Nissan Rogue into the southbound lanes and struck a 2015 Nissan NV2000 that had come to a stop at Northeast Third Avenue and Northeast 44th Street.
BSO said the Land Rover continued northwest while tumbling and rolling. It came to rest mid-block near the sidewalk on the west side of Northeast Third Avenue, north of Northeast 44th Street. Detectives said the Land Rover’s front axle was ripped off and the engine was ejected, coming to rest at the intersection of Northeast 44th Court.
The passenger in the Land Rover, Fedeline Alexis Saint Cyr, was ejected as the vehicle rolled, detectives said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
BSO said the Nissan Rogue rolled after being struck and came to rest against the front porch of a residence on the northeast corner of the intersection. The driver, the only occupant, was ejected as it rolled and was found near the front porch partially under the vehicle, detectives said.
After being hit, the Nissan NV2000 was launched backward and came to rest in the southbound lanes, according to BSO.
BSO identified the Land Rover driver as Jean Claude Saint Cyr and the Nissan Rogue driver as Antwon Nahshon Brand. The driver of the Nissan NV2000 was not identified in the release.
BSO said the three drivers were taken to Broward Health North for treatment.
Detectives said excessive speed is considered a contributing factor.
The investigation remains ongoing. BSO said charges are pending.
Residents in the area should expect follow-up information as detectives complete the traffic homicide investigation and determine responsibility for the crash.
