WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A pedestrian was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Jog Road and Okeechobee Boulevard, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say the crash occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. as a 2022 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Jog Road approaching Okeechobee Boulevard. At the same time, the pedestrian was attempting to cross Jog Road westbound within the marked crosswalk while running against the crosswalk signal.

According to investigators, the traffic signal cycled to yellow as the vehicle neared the intersection and the driver accelerated. The pedestrian then ran into the path of the vehicle and was struck by the front right portion of the car. The pedestrian was propelled onto the vehicle’s fender and into the windshield, where the pedestrian’s head struck the upper portion of the windshield near the roofline. The pedestrian came off the vehicle and landed in the northbound right lane of travel within the intersection.

Investigators say the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

After the collision, the vehicle slowed briefly and then continued northbound, leaving the scene. Deputies later located the driver at her residence, where she provided a sworn statement acknowledging that she was the driver involved in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing. Next of kin has been notified. PBSO tells Boca Post that charges are pending.
