CORAL SPRINGS, FL (Boca Post) — The City of Coral Springs officially gets a new Chief of Police as they have selected the current Deputy Chief Bradley ‘Brad’ McKeone to answer the call to be the top cop in Coral Springs.

This promotion makes McKeone the 7th Chief of Police in the history of the department. McKeone is replacing Chief Clyde Parry who is retiring after 35 years with the department.

City Manager Frank Babinec said that his intention was to promote from within the organization.

“Brad is 100% committed to the City of Coral Springs. His childhood, family life, and career are rooted in this community, and Brad’s vision for the department will ensure exceptional service and safety remain a top priority. I am confident in his ability to lead while developing the next generation of public safety professionals.” says Babinec.

McKeone has been with the department for 23 years and has been assigned to various specialty groups across the agency, leadership positions, as well as acting as an inter-agency liaison with federal organizations.

McKeone was named Officer of the year in 2008 and has earned several awards for exceptional police initiative as well as other team citations. McKeone holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. McKeone is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officers Development Course as well as the FBI’s National Academy.

The department says that McKeone will work with Chief Parry to implement a transition plan that best benefits the citizens of Coral Springs.
