CORAL SPRINGS, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Coral Springs to receive the $2.4M SAFER grant for the first time.

The City of Coral Springs announces that the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department (CSPFD) received its first-ever Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant award. The SAFER Grant provides $2,483,447 in total funding to support emergency response capabilities and public safety throughout our community. City Manager Catherine Givens stated that the SAFER Grant acquisition brings improved public safety benefits while decreasing the financial costs for local residents. The multi-million-dollar grant represents years of work by city staff who proved the city's dedication to smart strategic investments for Coral Springs' future development.

The SAFER Grant program operated by FEMA gives funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter organizations to support the growth of trained front-line firefighters. The main purpose of this funding program supports fire departments in their efforts to achieve adequate staffing levels and operational readiness. The three-year funding period will enable the city to employ 12 new firefighters. The city will provide $1,543,765 in matching funds to support the new firefighter positions while demonstrating its ongoing dedication to top-notch public safety and emergency preparedness.

The city secured $7 million in grant funding for FY2025 through its commitment to responsible budgeting and innovative approaches which minimize tax burden while building Coral Springs into the top community for families and residents and workers.
