I-95 Traffic Still Slow As Investigation Continues.

UPDATE – FHP Provides Update On Cause Of The Accident

Traffic is slowly flowing on the two left lanes, two right lanes remain closed due to the ongoing investigation.

FHP tells Boca Post:

For unknown reasons at this time, the driver of an SUV was blocking the right lane, southbound on Interstate 95 just south of Linton Blvd. The driver of a Tractor/Trailer was not able to avoid the SUV blocking the right lane and its front struck the SUV’s rear. After impact with the tractor/trailer, the SUV ignited on fire and became fully engulfed. The driver of the SUV succumbed to the injuries caused by the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This case is pending investigation. 

The deceased driver of the SUV was a 32-year-old man from Lake Worth. The driver of the tractor/trailer, who received minor injuries, is a 49-year-old man from Lake Worth.

FHP says the incident occurred at 5:15 AM in the southbound lane of I-95 just south of Linton Boulevard.

UPDATE

Two right lanes are still closed on I-95 southbound near Atlantic Ave continuing to cause major backups on I-95 late this morning.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — FHP tells Boca Post that I-95 is closed at Congress Ave due to a traffic homicide investigation and that you should seek alternate routes.

Crash in Palm Beach County on I-95 South, at Exit 50: Congress Ave, and traffic backed up to Exit 52: SR-806/Atlantic Ave. All lanes are closed. Last updated at 07:16 AM.

The deadly accident was first reported just before 6 AM. The accident forced FHP to close all southbound lanes in Boca Raton.
