CORAL SPRINGS, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Coral Springs police are investigating a serious traffic crash that left a juvenile e-moto rider with life-threatening injuries Monday night at the entrance to Atlantic Crossings Plaza on University Drive.

Police said the crash happened January 19, 2026, at about 9:18 p.m., at the entrance to the 800 block of University Drive. Investigators said the collision involved a 2025 Toyota Corolla driven by an adult male and an Ultra Bee e-moto driven by a juvenile male.

The crash site sits along a major north-south corridor that carries heavy nighttime traffic through Coral Springs, including drivers turning in and out of shopping centers and restaurant plazas. The entrance to Atlantic Crossings is a typical conflict point: vehicles slow to turn while others continue straight through, and visibility can change quickly depending on traffic and lighting.

According to the preliminary investigation, the e-moto was traveling southbound on University Drive as the Toyota traveled northbound and turned left into the Atlantic Crossings plaza. Police said contact occurred between the two vehicles during the turn.

The juvenile rider sustained life-threatening injuries, police said. Coral Springs Fire Rescue responded and the rider was transported to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale for treatment.

Police said multiple witnesses remained on scene and provided statements. The investigation remains active, and Coral Springs police said no additional information will be released at this time.

For residents and drivers, the key point right now is that the department is still working the case. That means the early description of movements and the point of impact are preliminary. Investigators typically continue to document the scene, interview witnesses, review any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses, and look for other digital evidence such as dash camera video. They also evaluate roadway conditions, lighting, and sightlines at the plaza entrance.

Monday’s crash also lands in a wider local conversation about e-motos and other small, fast electric bikes operating on major roadways. The Ultra Bee is an electric moto-style bike, and while the department did not address equipment, legality, or speed in its statement, the fact pattern described by police is a familiar one in South Florida: a turning vehicle and a smaller rider moving straight through a busy corridor at night.

Coral Springs police did not identify the driver or the juvenile rider and did not say whether citations are expected. The department also did not release information about the juvenile’s condition beyond “life-threatening injuries,” or whether the rider was wearing safety gear.
