PARKLAND, FL (Boca Post) — Detectives with Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a crash that left a Parkland man dead Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:38 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5., at the intersection of Heron Bay Boulevard and Northwest 76th Street in Parkland. According to investigators, the preliminary investigation revealed that Michael Clark was traveling westbound in a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe on Northwest 76th Street and stopped at the T-intersection of Heron Bay Boulevard. At the same time, Harvey Goldberg was walking northbound within the designated crosswalk crossing Northwest 76th street.

As Clark proceeded into the intersection and attempted to conduct a left turn, the driver side front fender struck Goldberg which caused him to fall onto the asphalt and strike his head.

Coral Springs Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Goldberg to Broward Health North where he was pronounced deceased.

Clark remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

Detectives say excessive speed, driver impairment, mechanical malfunction and environmental conditions are not considered to be contributing factors to the crash. The investigation continues.
