BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca West Country Club’s golf shop has been named one of the top 100 golf shops in the world and will receive a 2026 AGM Platinum Award from the Association of Golf Merchandisers, a recognition tied to retail performance and customer experience in golf operations.
The honor places the Boca Raton shop on a global list that the Association of Golf Merchandisers says reflects the strongest golf retail operations across public, private, resort, and off-course facilities. The award is positioned as a measure of how well a shop runs as a modern retail business, not just what it sells.
In describing the selection, the Association of Golf Merchandisers said the recognized shops “excel not only in product selection and presentation but in the overall experience they create for golfers and guests.” AGM said shops were evaluated on marketing, customer service, and operational execution, with reviewers looking at performance areas that included visual merchandising, marketing and promotions, staff development, revenue performance, and the ability to create a memorable shopping environment.
AGM said a panel of impartial industry experts reviewed submissions as part of the process.
Boca West’s golf shop was recognized during a special presentation connected to the 2026 PGA Show in Orlando. The presentation took place on January 21.
“This recognition is a true testament to the dedicated team at Boca West,” Matthew Linderman, CCM, President, COO and General Manager of Boca West Country Club, said in the announcement. Linderman said the club was honored the shop was recognized for “excellence in growth and innovation.”
Boca West Country Club sits in Boca Raton in Palm Beach County and operates as a private, resident-only country club community. The club describes a large on-site lineup of amenities, including four championship golf courses, a USTA tennis facility, a spa, six restaurants, and a social program spread across roughly 1,400 acres of landscaping.
The club also highlighted recent capital improvements as part of a $45 million club expansion program, including a 96,000-square-foot aquatics center with five pools and a new restaurant bar, along with a renovation of a two-story sports center complex expected to include space for spin, aerobics, Pilates, and core training. The club said additional elements described in the expansion include a spa relaxation courtyard with an outdoor wet area and an outdoor rooftop bar and terrace overlooking the Palmer Golf Course.
The golf shop recognition adds to a list of accolades Boca West cited in the same announcement, including being ranked among Platinum Clubs of the World since 2017, holding a 5-Star Private Club ranking by Platinum Clubs of America since 1997, and being recognized as an Elite Distinguished World Club by BoardRoom magazine since 2013. Boca West also said it has been honored with the AGM Platinum Award each year since 2019 and has been named a Top Workplaces winner by Energage for seven years running.
For local residents, the recognition is a snapshot of how a major Boca Raton private club is positioning its retail operations — a side of the golf business that increasingly blends hospitality, branding, merchandising strategy, and service delivery alongside the sport itself. The award is specific to retail execution and shopper experience, and the selection process described by AGM emphasizes how shops present products, train staff, and drive revenue in addition to creating a high-end environment for members and guests.
