The Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach District detectives need assistance from the community to identify and find a person who assaulted and robbed a man aboard a Broward County Transit bus in a distressful incident that happened around 12 PM last Wednesday near Southwest 12th Avenue, in Pompano Beach. Witnesses reported that an elderly individual was peacefully seated by themselves on the bus when a grown man approached them in a manner and started using foul language towards the elderly passenger without any apparent reason known to onlookers. Detectives mentioned that due to the actions of the man in question; the bus driver decided to halt the bus and requested all passengers to disembark. The elderly victim then approached the driver to inquire about the reason for stopping when suddenly and unexpectedly the individual launched an attack, on them and snatched their phone. Investigators reported that the individual was dressed in a long sleeve jacket along with a black shirt and shorts during the incident where the victims cellphone was knocked out of his left hand causing him to lose consciousness The detectives mentioned that once the victim fell to the ground due, to the assault the assailant swiftly seized the victims cellphone before leaving the bus BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue were alerted to provide assistance Emergency responders arrived at the scene. Found the injured individual who was then taken to Broward Health North by PBFR for medical care due to multiple injuries sustained from the incident. Eyewitnesses provided a description of the perpetrator as a man, in his thirties standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.
