A tragic incident occurred in Deerfield Beach where an adult male pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a train. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently looking into the details of this fatal crash that took place on Aug. 7, 2024, at around 3;45 p.m. Near the 1500 block of South Dixie Highway. Upon receiving reports of the collision, BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue swiftly responded to the scene where it was discovered that the pedestrian had been struck by a Brightline train. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking eastbound as the train approached from the southbound direction on the east tracks with all safety mechanisms activated at the grade crossing.
A person disregarded the safety measures and crossed the train tracks, leading to a collision with a train. The emergency responders confirmed the man’s passing at the scene. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.

Investigators involved in the case include Detectives G. Tonna, M. Wiley and S. Portoro from the Traffic Homicide Unit (THI), along with Detectives S. Strzalkowski and C. Greetham also from THI.
