Authorities from Broward Sheriffs Office Homicide Unit are looking into a shooting incident that occurred in Lighthouse Point area recently.
On a distress call related to an issue and gunshots fired near Northeast 49th Street in Lighthouse Point around 5;13 in the evening Lighthouse Point Police Department officers swiftly arrived at the scene.
There they found Bernabe Rodriquez,a man with a gunshot injury. Took him to Broward Health North for medical attention with help, from Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue team. He was declared dead later on the request of the Lighthouse Point Police Department as detectives, from BSOs Crime Scene and Homicide Units look into the details of the shooting incident. The shooter stayed at the scene. Was questioned before being let go by authorities for further investigation. After completing their inquiries into the matter. detectives will forward the case to Broward County State Attorneys Office for assessment.
The Lighthouse Point Police Department stated that they have not received any reports regarding the incident involving the person who was shot and the suspected shooter, at that location.The investigation is still ongoing.
