BSO To Donate $11M To Local Charities

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — On Wednesday the 25th of September Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony and the dedicated members of the Broward Sheriffs Office will be allocating over $11 million to local not-for-profit organizations as part of BSO’s Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) grants award initiative. This financial support showcases BSOs dedication to aiding charitable organizations that offer a wide range of services to the residents of Broward County.

The money obtained from confiscating items used in committing a crime that state laws permit law enforcement agencies to put back into society will be distributed during a significant check giving ceremony happening at 2 p.m to 4 p.m at The African American Research Library and Cultural Center, in Fort Lauderdale.

In the year alone 112 nonprofit initiatives are receiving financial support under this program. The LETF initiative permits organizations, with valid 501(c)(3) status and actively serving Broward County residents to seek and obtain $10k in grant assistance.
Successful organizations focus on meeting the mandates related to crime prevention and drug abuse control under the LETF guidelines while also aligning with Sheriff Tony’s key goals such as youth intervention strategies barring criminal involvement and initiatives to curb gun related crimes by offering support programs, for the homeless and individuals struggling with mental health issues.
