Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are looking into a motorcycle crash that resulted in a man’s death Sunday night in Lauderdale Lakes. At around 7:34 p.m. on Sept. 28, Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a crash near the 3500 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes. BSO district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue were dispatched. Upon arrival, they found that a crash had occurred involving a 2001 Triumph Sprint motorcycle and a 2020 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. Paramedics declared the motorcyclist, an adult male, dead at the scene. BSO THI detectives were called in to conduct the investigation. According to the preliminary findings, Amboise Blaise was driving the pickup truck eastbound on West Oakland Park Boulevard and was preparing to make a U-turn to head back westbound. At the same time, the motorcyclist was riding westbound in the center lane of West Oakland Park Boulevard as he neared the 3500 block. Investigators state that as the pickup truck began its left-hand U-turn, it entered the motorcyclist’s path of travel. The motorcyclist engaged the rear brake and tried to avoid colliding with the pickup truck but low sided. Both the motorcyclist and the motorcycle slid into the passenger side of the pickup truck. Detectives report that neither excessive speed nor impairment is believed to be contributing factors to the cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
