BSO will pay tribute to local heroes and commend exceptional service at the upcoming Annual Awards Ceremony. The event is scheduled for 1;30 p.m. On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Bailey Hall in Broward College located at 3501 Davie Road, Davie. The ceremony aims to honor the outstanding efforts of Broward Sheriff’s Office employees, community partners and citizens who have shown remarkable dedication to serving the community.

Notable individuals being recognized include a detective committed to protecting children by apprehending multiple sexual offenders successfully, a fire rescue captain known for their compassion and valuable contribution to public safety and a communications operator whose adept handling of a CPR situation saved a patient’s life. Additionally, a patrol squad will be acknowledged for their swift response to various incidents such as apprehending an armed student on school premises, preventing a shooting at Walmart, conducting human trafficking investigations and addressing multiple armed robberies within a year.

The ceremony will also showcase recipients of the Medal of Honor, Gold and Silver Cross awards, deputies of the year, civilian employees of the year, citizen of the year award recipient as well as units recognized for their exemplary performance throughout the year.
Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony will also present accolades for acts of heroism, outstanding performance and the Grand Cordon Unit Achievement.
