BROWARD, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Broward Sheriff’s Office tells us that the department has stepped up traffic enforcement by executing what they are calling Operation Spring Fling which runs concurrently with Spring Break.

From Broward Sheriff’s Office:

Every year during spring break, coastal communities in South Florida see an uptick in college-aged students descending on beaches to celebrate “Spring Break” from their respective college campuses.
To address the influx of traffic associated with their travels, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Regional Traffic Unit is conducting a traffic enforcement blitz throughout parts of Broward County.
The month-long operation, which began on March 7, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the cities of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach. Motorists can also expect to see a high saturation of motor units within BSO’s jurisdictions, as Operation Spring Fling is designed around a full traffic enforcement press by BSO’s entire Regional Traffic Unit.
The goal of the traffic enforcement blitz is to provide safer roadway usage for all motorists and protect vulnerable roadway users such as bicyclists and pedestrians. Deputies will also focus on increasing traffic flow along coastal roadways and decreasing aggressive driving and speeding, which will reduce the number of traffic crashes that can occur.
BSO urges drivers to obey traffic laws on all Broward County roadways and to have a safe spring break.
