BSO Investigating Oakland Park Shooting

BSO deputies responded to the area of Northeast 35th Court and Northeast Fifth Avenue in Oakland Park, where the agency said a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — BSO is investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Oakland Park after deputies responded to a call about a possible suspicious person.

Shortly after 7 a.m., Broward County Regional Communications was notified of a possible suspicious person in the area of Northeast 35th Court and Northeast Fifth Avenue in Oakland Park, according to the BSO Public Information Office.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area and made contact with an armed individual. During the response, a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

BSO’s Public Information Office described the situation as a developing incident. The agency said a BSO Public Information Officer is expected to be on scene at approximately 9 a.m.

The investigation is being handled by BSO. Residents in Palm Beach County, including Boca Raton, should note the incident is in Broward County, and information may change as BSO releases updates from the scene.

What happens next is expected to come from BSO once the public information officer arrives and the agency provides additional details on the scene response and the investigation.
