The Traffic Homicide Unit of the Broward Sheriff’s Office is currently looking into a collision that took place on March 21st and resulted in the death of a pedestrian in Lauderdale Lakes area. On that particular Friday afternoon officers from the BSO district swiftly arrived at the crossing of Northwest 46th Avenue and West Oakland Park Boulevard following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Initial investigations, at the scene indicated that Ignatius D Balistrere was strolling towards the west on the sidewalk located on the side of the street while crossing Northwest 46th Avenue. On that day in question when Pellegrino was driving his 1998 Ford F150 and stopped to turn east onto West Oakland Park Boulevard; investigators noted that Balistrere accidentally walked into the vehicles path as Pellegrino made the turn. Following the incident and collision with the vehicle mentioned earlier; Balistrere was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment of injuries initially deemed life threatening but unfortunately succumbed to them on Sunday March 30. The investigation, into this event is still ongoing.
