BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton Police responded to Spanish River High School on Wednesday morning after an unknown caller reported being armed in the area of the school, prompting a law enforcement response involving both city police and the Palm Beach Schools Police Department.

The Boca Raton Police Services Department said at 10:57 a.m. that officers were working with Palm Beach Schools Police at Spanish River High School after the caller made the threat. Numerous officers were in the area investigating what police described as a suspicious incident.

The incident comes days after apparent Swatting calls targeting Town Center Mall at Boca Raton and Boca Raton Middle School.

By 11:19 a.m., police said no suspicious activity had been located. Officers continued checking the school as a precaution.

The department said the incident was possibly a swatting call, but officers would continue investigating to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Swatting is the term commonly used for a false emergency call intended to draw a major police response. In school settings, the result is immediate and visible: officers, lockdown concerns, anxious parents, and questions about whether the threat is real. Boca Raton Police did not say the call had been confirmed as false, only that it was possibly a swatting call and that no suspicious activity had been found as of the department’s 11:19 a.m. update.

Spanish River High School is in Boca Raton and is part of the School District of Palm Beach County. The police response involved Boca Raton Police and Palm Beach Schools Police, the district’s law enforcement agency. Boca Raton Police handled the public update through its official social media channel.

The incident drew quick reaction from parents and residents, including questions about what swatting means and whether similar incidents at other schools had been publicly communicated in the same way. One commenter raised concerns about a reported Code Red lockdown at West Boca Raton Community High School the previous day and said parents were left trying to get information in real time. Another commenter noted that West Boca High is outside the City of Boca Raton Police Department’s jurisdiction and would be handled by a different law enforcement agency.

Those comments reflect a recurring issue during school threat responses: different campuses can fall under different law enforcement jurisdictions, even when they are all commonly described as Boca-area schools. Spanish River High is within the City of Boca Raton response area. West Boca Raton Community High School is outside the city limits, where primary law enforcement responsibility generally sits elsewhere.

Police did not report any injuries in the Spanish River incident. They also did not identify a caller or say whether anyone had been detained.

For parents and nearby residents, the immediate point from Boca Raton Police was clear: officers were still checking the school out of caution, but no suspicious activity had been located as of the latest update. Further information would come from Boca Raton Police, Palm Beach Schools Police, or the School District of Palm Beach County if the investigation develops.
