BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A man was taken into custody after Boca Raton police say he exposed himself and engaged in a sexual act in the front yard of a residential property, in view of a nearby home where an adult woman and children were present.
The incident unfolded in a neighborhood off Northeast 4th Court, placing it within a residential corridor east of North Dixie Highway where homes sit in close proximity and yards are visible from surrounding properties.
According to the Boca Raton Police Department, officers responded around 4:45 p.m. on April 28 to the 2200 block of NE 4th Court following a report of indecent exposure in progress. The call came from a resident who told police a man was standing in bushes outside her bedroom window.
Investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old Eduardo Exequiel Lares Alonzo, described in records as a Honduran national staying in Boca Raton. He faces a misdemeanor charge of exposure of sexual organs under Florida law.
A probable cause affidavit filed in Palm Beach County court details the sequence of events. The victim told officers the man was wearing a red shirt and carrying a red backpack when she first saw him positioned near the side of her home. From there, he allegedly turned toward a neighboring property and began manipulating his exposed genitals in a sexual manner.
The affidavit states the act occurred while an adult woman and children were outside at the neighboring residence. The victim described the behavior as “appalling” and told officers she attempted to activate her sprinkler system in an effort to drive the man away. Despite that, he remained in the area for several minutes before leaving.
The victim later provided video footage of the incident to investigators, which police used as part of their case.
Officers canvassing the area located a man matching the description a few blocks away near North Dixie Highway. He was detained and identified as Lares Alonzo.
According to police, Lares Alonzo admitted to the act during an interview conducted through a Spanish-language translator. Investigators say he told officers he was watching a woman across the street at the time and had hoped she would not notice him. He also told police he was waiting to be picked up from a landscaping job.
The victim was later asked to review the suspect and positively identified Lares Alonzo as the individual she saw in her yard, according to the affidavit.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Boca Raton Police Department for processing before being booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
As of Friday, jail records show Lares Alonzo remained in custody in lieu of $2,000 bail.
The charge he faces — exposure of sexual organs — is a misdemeanor offense in Florida but carries potential penalties including jail time, probation, and court-ordered conditions if convicted. The case will proceed through the Palm Beach County court system, where prosecutors will determine how to move forward based on the evidence collected.
For residents, the case underscores how quickly law enforcement can respond to reports of suspicious or criminal behavior in residential neighborhoods. Police encourage anyone who observes similar activity to report it immediately so officers can respond in real time.
