Joshua Crist Of East Boca Arrested For Grand Theft

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man grand theft and battery charges, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Joshua Crist, 20, of the 700 block of Appleby Street in East Boca, was arrested early Sunday morning by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Boca Post has been notified that the charges filed include “Grand Theft ($5k – $10k)” and “battery – touch or strike.”

Crist was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 1:35 on Sunday morning. Crist is in the custody of the PBSO jail without bail set while he awaits court proceedings.

According to an arrest report obtained by Boca Post, Joshua Crist was left alone at Christopher Mascetti’s house on Dinner Key Drive in Boca Isles while Mascetti and his girlfriend went to the store. Mascetti says that when he returned he noticed Crist’s backpack appeared to be full. Mascetti explains that the backpack was empty when he left and he suspected Crist of stealing his belongings.

Mascetti confronted Crist about the backpack and then the two got into an argument. Joshua then tried to leave the residence and when Mascetti tried to stop him, he was attacked. The two engaged in a physical altercation in the driveway where Crist bit Mascetti on his stomach.

Crist later told deputies that he did take the belongings but only to keep them safe from other people who might steal them. Crist says that Mascetti has had people over in the past who have stolen his things. Deputies recovered some items that Mascetti confirmed to be his. Mascetti claims that the value of the stolen items was $6,000.

According to jail records, Crist lives on Appleby Street in East Boca. House prices in that area average over $1,000,000 as many residences in that area are waterfront lots with direct access to the Intracoastal waterway.
