BSO Investigating West Park Shooting

BSO Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting reported in the 5400 block of Southwest 22nd Street in West Park.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a murder after a man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in West Park.

Broward County Regional Communications received a delayed report of a shooting shortly after 3 a.m. on March 15 in the 5400 block of Southwest 22nd Street, according to BSO.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the call. Deputies found an adult male who had been shot, lying outside on the ground. The victim was identified as Timothy Motes.

Motes was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, BSO said.

BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate. Detectives said the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. and law enforcement was called about an hour later.

The investigation is being handled by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit. BSO did not release any information about a suspect or what led up to the shooting.

Residents who may have seen or heard anything in the area of the 5400 block of Southwest 22nd Street around 2 a.m. are being asked to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Ian Kuechler at 954-321-4246 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.

BSO said tips that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
