BOCA RATON, FL — Boca Raton Police say a Boynton Beach man has been arrested in connection with the April homicide of 37-year-old Arman Motiwalla in the Camino Gardens area.
Willie Byrd Jr., 42, was taken into custody on June 5 after Boca Raton Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant on June 4, according to a Boca Raton Police public information release. Police said Byrd is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm.
Motiwalla, a Plantation man, was found deceased next to his vehicle in a parking lot at 350 Camino Gardens Boulevard at about 1:45 a.m. on April 8, police said. According to Boca Raton Police, Motiwalla suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Boca Post first reported on April 8 that Boca Raton Police were investigating the fatal shooting after Motiwalla was found shot to death near his vehicle on Camino Gardens Boulevard.
On April 16, Boca Post reported that a GoFundMe campaign had been launched to help cover future education and living costs for Amir, Motiwalla’s young son.
On April 25, Boca Post reported that Boca Raton Police and Crime Stoppers were offering a $3,000 reward for information in the then-unsolved homicide.
Boca Raton Police said the arrest followed an extensive investigation. The agency did not release additional details in the provided statement about what detectives allege led them to Byrd, and no motive was included in the release.
Byrd, of Boynton Beach, was being held at the Palm Beach County Jail, according to police. The case remains an active investigation.
