Boca Raton Man Arrested For Shoplifting 6 Ceiling Fans From Home Depot

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Louis Apuzzo of Boca Raton has been arrested and charged with a felony shoplifting offense, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Louis Apuzzo, 55, of the 6800 block of Consoloata Street in Boca Raton, has been arrested by the Delray Beach Police Department on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022. Boca Post has been notified that the charge filed is retail theft over $750.

According to an arrest report submitted by the Delray Beach Police Department, officers responded to the Home Depot located at 1400 Waterford Place in Delray Beach at 11:53 AM on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 in reference to a shoplifting in progress.

Apuzzo, who is known to Loss Prevention through prior apprehensions for shoplifting, was observed and recognized from those prior contacts. Loss prevention followed Apuzzo through the store and observed him take 6 ceiling fans from the shelf. Apuzzo then took all six ceiling fans past all points of purchase without making any attempt to pay for the items.

Apuzzo was confronted by Loss Prevention outside of the store. According to the store’s loss prevention personnel, Apuzzo then ran north with loss prevention following. Apuzzo was stopped by police at 1001 W. Linton Blvd. Apuzzo was positively identified to police by loss prevention.

A store receipt was provided for showing the value of the stolen property at $1,014 before tax. The offender verbally identified himself and this information was verified by a photo of the offender in the Delray Beach Police Department RMS system.

Based on the above-listed facts Probable Cause exists for the arrest of Louis Apuzzo as he did knowingly and willfully take property valued at over $750 owned by the victim business as represented by the reporting party past all points of purchase without paying for the property with the intent to permanently deprive the business of said property pursuant to FSS 812.015(8) Retail Theft over $750.

Louis Apuzzo was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 2:43 PM on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, and released the following morning on a $3,000 bond.

According to court records, Apuzzo has been arrested for shoplifting from various retailers in the area, including:

  • Target in West Boca Raton (2021)
  • Home Depot in Lake Worth (2021)
  • Home Depot in Delray Beach (2020)
