BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Patricia Pereira of Boca Raton has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer among other charges according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Patricia Pereira, 44, of the 10000 block of Serene Meadow Drive in Meadow Lakes community in west Boca Raton, has been arrested by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office. Boca Post has been notified that the charges filed include battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, resisting without violence, and fleeing and eluding.

In addition to the arrest, Pereira was cited with a (criminal) traffic citation for “Flee/Elude officer in patrol vehicle”. A PBSO patrol deputy was trying to pull Pereira over in her black Mercedes SUV near the entrance to the Meadow Lakes development where she lives in West Boca when she allegedly attempted to elude the stop.

All dramatics aside, Pereira has garnished the attention of a local West Boca zone deputy as she recently fled from him when he was responding to a shoplifting call at the West Boca Walmart. The deputy pulled Pereira over near SW 18th Street and US-441 after she allegedly fled from store security. At that time, Pereira uttered “I can’t afford to get arrested right now” and sped off in her Mercedes. The deputy did not pursue Pereira due to PBSO’s no-pursuit policy which prevents a pursuit in the absence of a violent felony.

A few weeks after that incident, the same deputy observed Pereira driving her Mercedes near the entrance of Meadow Lakes community where she lives in west Boca Raton. The deputy then followed her home and parked in her driveway, blocking her Mercedes. The deputy then made contact with Pereira and told her she was under arrest. The deputy reports that Pereira became combative and he had to deploy OC spray to gain compliance which failed when she fled to her vehicle and locked the doors. The deputy, who was calling for backup, repeatedly hit her vehicle’s window with his baton but it did not break. Pereira eventually stepped out of the vehicle and sat on the ground before she was handcuffed and arrested.

Patricia Pereira was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Monday morning where she remains. Pereira saw a judge on Monday morning who agreed probable cause existed for her arrest and set her bond to a total of $5,000 while she is being held on the following charges:

  • 316.1935(2) TCATS FLEEING OR ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE MARKED POLICE CAR
  • 784.07(2B) BATTERY ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
  • 843.01 RESIST WITH VIOLENCE
  • 843.02 RESIST WITHOUT VIOLENCE
