UPDATE

Delray Beach Police Department has identified the woman killed in the crash as Youseline Pierre.

An arrest has also been made. The Delray Beach Police Department issued a warrant for the arrest of Balmont Thompson. Thompson was taken into custody by the South Florida Marshals Task Force in Miami. Thompson was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and 7 other charges.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) —  Delray Beach Police confirm that one woman was killed early on Monday morning following a high-speed crash near Military Trail and Atlantic Avenue.

According to DBPD, a Delray Beach woman was killed early Monday morning in a crash at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and S. Military Trail in Delray Beach. The Delray Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash that occurred at 5:04 a.m. The victim was driving south on S. Military Trail when her red Mazda SUV was struck on the passenger side by a black Honda Accord traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Balmont Thompson, 28, and his three passengers were transported to the hospital. Three of the occupants experienced serious bodily injuries. Alcohol is believed to have played a part in this crash.

The driver of the Mazda was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name is being withheld at the request of her next of kin, citing Marsy’s Law.
