Two Arrested At Neiman Marcus Boca Town Center For Fraud

Possessed Fake IDs. Fraudulently Opened Lines Of Credit.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Boca Police arrest two people at Neiman Marcus in Boca Town Center who were caught purchasing large amounts of clothing using fraudulently opened credit lines in other peoples names.

According to a police report submitted by Boca Raton Police Department, On Tuesday, January 4th, 2022, Neiman Marcus Loss Prevention was alerted to two individuals in the store who were quickly selecting merchandise. The male and female subjects, later identified as Xing Zheng, 26, and Jiayi Chen, 22, were observed by the store’s loss prevention personnel selecting over $1,100 worth of clothing items.

At some point, while Chen was selecting merchandise, Zheng was opening a credit line with a sales associate. The two exited the store and were then apprehended by loss prevention. BRPD was then called and responded. The arresting officer found that the two were in possession of many identification cards in the names of other people but with their pictures on them.

Chen lied and told the officer she was a juvenile with a birthday of 11/9/04. Chen could not explain why she had 6 different fake IDs on her person or what she was doing in the store or why she was in the store. Zheng acknowledged he knew what they were doing was wrong but that he needed the money. Zheng said that he and Chen were friends.

BRPD officers made contact with one of the victims, an individual who had just unknowingly opened a credit line at Neiman Marcus, who wished to press charges.

Jiayi Chen is charged with:

  • 7 counts of DL UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF D/L OR ID CARD (322.212(1A))
  • FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT CARD MORE THAN 2X IN 6 MONTHS (817.61)
  • GIVE FALSE ID TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (901.36(1))
  • CRIMINAL ATTEMPT SOLICIT CONSPIRE 1ST DEG MISD (777.04(4F))

Xing Zheng is charged with:

  • (FT)FRAUD-ILLEG USE CREDIT CARDS – USE MORE 2 TIME 6 MS OBT GDS MNEY 100 DOL MORE (817.61)
  • 7 counts of (FT)FRAUD – POSS DISPLAY BLANK FORGED STOLEN DR LIC OR ID (322.212(1A))
  • CRIMINAL ATTEMPT SOLICIT CONSPIRE 1ST DEG MISD (777.04(4F))

Zheng and Chen were escorted to the PBSO jail where they were both processed. Chen was released on $3,000 bond on 1/6/22. Zheng was released on $7,000 bond on 1/12/22.
