Music Legacies Owner Rakesh Jhaveri Arrested
PEMBROKE PINES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Pembroke Pines detectives arrested a 30-year-old music instructor after investigators say he engaged in a sexual relationship with a teen student during private lessons at his Southwest 196th Avenue studio.
Police say the case surfaced on November 17, 2025, when the girl’s parents brought her to the Pembroke Pines Police Station to report inappropriate conduct involving Rakesh Jhaveri, the owner of Music Legacies, located at 6941 SW 196 Avenue. A parent had found explicit conversations between Jhaveri and the teen on her laptop through the Discord messaging app, prompting the report.
According to investigators, the victim — now 15 — met Jhaveri years earlier because their families were friends. In 2023, when she was 13, she began private music lessons with him. Detectives wrote that over time, the lessons shifted into personal conversations and then sexual activity.
The girl said the first kiss happened in October 2023. A few months later, she told detectives, the contact escalated to digital penetration and eventually to intercourse. She recalled that the first time Jhaveri did not use protection; afterward, she said, he used condoms during each encounter. Most of the sexual activity, according to the affidavit, happened inside his studio while she was supposed to be receiving lessons.
Detectives contacted Jhaveri at his Sunrise home. Investigators wrote that he admitted texting a young female and asked for privacy before continuing the discussion in an unmarked police vehicle. During that interview, police say, he acknowledged engaging in sexual activity with the girl between ages 13 and 15. He allegedly described the relationship as starting with kissing in fall 2023 and escalating to touching and intercourse by spring 2024. He estimated they had intercourse between five and ten times.
Jhaveri also admitted messaging the teen on Discord about personal struggles she was experiencing, according to the report.
After reviewing the girl’s statements, the digital messages, and Jhaveri’s interview, investigators arrested him on ten counts of Lewd & Lascivious Battery on a Victim 12–16. Jhaveri has since been released on bond.
Police say the conduct occurred between 2023 and 2025.
The Pembroke Pines Police Department is urging any parents whose children attended or visited Music Legacies to contact the Special Victims Unit if they believe their child may also be a victim. Detective Nicole Ratliff can be reached at 954-743-1639 or [email protected].
