Joseph Criscione Arrested

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A Fort Lauderdale man is in jail after he shot at Fort Lauderdale Police Officers who were responding to a family disturbance at his home.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department (FLPD) is currently investigating an incident involving a domestic disturbance that resulted in a police shooting. This incident took place on Monday, October 9th, around 3;00 p.m., specifically in the 2200 block of Southwest 28th Way within the City of Fort Lauderdale.

According to initial investigations, FLPD received a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance between family members at the location in question. As officers were en route to the scene, the suspect locked themselves inside the residence while armed with a firearm.

After some time had passed, the suspect moved to the second floor of the house and fired shots at arriving officers through an open window. In response, one FLPD officer discharged their duty firearm but did not hit the suspect.

FLPD’s SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiators promptly arrived on site to establish communication with the suspect. Despite several hours of attempted contact and negotiations, the suspect refused to surrender and continued barricading themselves inside.

Recognizing that additional support was necessary, FLPD requested tactical resources from Broward Sheriff’s Office, Davie Police Department and even sought assistance from the FBI.

At around 7;50 p.m., there was an attempt made by the suspect to discreetly leave the residence.
Dear SWAT Operators in the vicinity,

Using specialized night vision goggles, our team of SWAT Operators successfully apprehended the suspect without any further complications.

During the initial disturbance, a woman sustained injuries and was promptly transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue. Fortunately, her injuries were not life threatening and she has already been discharged from the hospital.

The suspect involved in this incident has been identified as Joseph Criscione, a white male born on November 2nd, 1991. Police note that he did not sustain any injuries during the course of these events.

Joseph Criscione now faces multiple charges including three counts of attempted murder on law enforcement officers, felony battery on an individual over 65 years old and resisting arrest without violence.
