Original Story

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A 23-year-old FAU student is facing several felony narcotics charges according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Brogan Hull, 23, resident of University Park Apartments, an off-campus apartment complex that caters to FAU students, was arrested yesterday evening by the Boca Raton Police Department. The FAU student spent the night of his 23rd birthday in a PBSO jail cell following his arrest for selling narcotics.

According to Boca Raton Police Department, this arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Vice, Intelligence, and Narcotics Unit (VIN), a specialty group within the BRPD.

According to the report, the entire investigation started in February of 2022 when an undercover detective spoke to an “unwitting male who identified himself as Anthony” at a bar. The undercover agent told “Anthony” he wanted to buy some cocaine. Anthony” told the undercover that he knew a guy that could get him some cocaine, but he would require a $10 fee to make the connection.

The undercover then purchased 1 gram of cocaine for $90, after paying “Anthony” his finder’s fee. That is when, detectives say, Hull shows up in his white Chevy Camero. “Anthony” enters the vehicle, gives cash to Hull, exits the vehicle, and then gives what is later determined to be cocaine to the undercover detective.

Undercover detectives then performed several other cocaine and MDMGA purchases from Hull over the next few months with transactions happening in the parking lot of Hull’s apartment at “U-PARK”, or University Park, a popular off-campus apartment complex located at 135 NW 20th Street.

The undercover detective then asked Hull if he could get a large amount of MDMA. Hull claimed that he could “easily” sell the undercover detective 1 ounce of MDMA for $1,300. Hull elaborated that his friends in Illinois produce the substance and ship it to him so he can sell it in Boca Raton.

The very next day, Hull texted the undercover detective and told him “Yo it came in” in reference to the 1 ounce of MDMA. Later that night, the undercover detective purchased the MDMA from Hull. The MDMA was later tested and weighed 29.4 grams.

On Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, the BRPD SWAT team executed a search warrant at Hull’s U-PARK apartment where they found 31 grams of cocaine, empty baggies, and a digital scale among his personal effects.

There are two other roommates mentioned in the report but their involvement, if any, in illegal drug activity is unknown.

According to Brogan’s Facebook page, he is from Effingham, Illinois but has moved to Boca Raton where is now a student at FAU.

Hull was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 6:40 PM on Thursday evening. Court records indicate Hull is currently in PBSO custody being held on a $70,000 bond while facing the following charges:

  • 3 counts of 893.13(1A1) SALE OF COCAINE
  • 893.135(1K1) TRAFFIC PHENETHYLAMINES > 10 GRAMS
  • 893.13(1A1) SALE OF MDMA
  • 893.135(1B1) TRAFFICKING IN COCAINE

At his first appearance, the judge ordered a bond source requirement to make sure “drug money” isn’t used to pay the bond. According to court records, Hull has hired Douglas Rudman to represent him in this case.
